MEET THE TEAM
Hello, my name is Jeffrey Scott Viglielmo and I am a life long resident of Ulster county. I did go away for my higher education but have have been lucky to be able to return to the area that I love. I graduated from Onteora High School in 1977, received my BS from St. Lawrence University in 1981 with a Biology and Chemistry major. Georgetown University Dental School in Washington, DC provided me with my DDS degree and there I also met my wife, Maureen. We still live in Woodstock where we are raising our 2 children, Kaitlana, age 11 and Kealey, age 13. I have volunteered my dental expertise to the Ulster County Community Action Committee by sitting on the advisory board for the county's Headstart program. I have often provided their children with dental screenings over these past 20 years and in recent years, adopted a child from this program to provide their dental needs that they are unable to receive elsewhere at our cost.
In 2001 I joined the International Academy Of Oral Medicine and Toxicology and was accedited in 2006 for showing the interest and skills to treat my patients in a biologic sense- understanding dental materials biocompatibility, periodontal disease process and using the safest protocols for removal of mercury. This is a toxin which makes up over 50% of the "silver" fillings that many of us had or still have.
At home I have given my time to the Hunter Mountain Race Foundation which gets me outdoors running alpine ski races as timer, official and course worker. It has been a great experience meeting the world's best American racers at our NORAM events, even Bode Miller was a participant in 2002 on our Catskill Mountain hill. During the 2008-9 season I coached the J III Alpine Competition Team where I was able to ski with my son and enjoy the sport with him. I have also become an AYSO soccer coach and referee to be a guiding force in my son's summer athletic development. I am now the Woodstock Soccer U15 head coach and have been engaged with 25 plus children during the Spring and Fall seasons. I even took on the Onteora Boy's Modified coaching duties last fall. It has been a lot of fun to see them as they enjoy their outdoor athletic training and competitions. Personally, I still ski race and play soccer myself as well as tennis, windsurfing, bicycling and hiking.

My passion for dentistry came early in my life. Dental Hygiene offered me the career options and schedule that fit my family lifestyle. In 1977, I graduated from SUNY Orange with an Associates Degree in Dental Hygiene. During that time I obtained extensive training in treating disabled veterans at the Castle Point VA. This began a lifelong goal in pursuing how to best serve the needs of all patients. My career began in June of that year and I haven’t regretted a single day of private practice. After about 10 years of general practice, I was asked to work in a periodontal practice part time. Periodontal therapy is one of my passions. I have local anesthesia and analgesia certification, along with CPR/AED training. And, I am so pleased with all of the excellent results that are possible. Implant dentistry was introduced to me early on, and I am still amazed by the miracles that allow my patients to have a “third” set of teeth. Makeover dentistry is such an exciting field and I learned so much from working in a prosthetic practice as well. Recently I joined the IAOMT, which adds biologic dentistry to my current scope of practice. Over the past thirty years I have participated in Head Start meetings and dental screenings, Special Smiles for Special Olympics, the American Hepatitis Association, and the Greater New York Dental Meeting. I am a member of the American Dental Hygienist Association. Over the years, I assisted with oral cancer screenings at county fairs, was a guest lecturer to dental hygiene students, and presented dental programs to students in schools. I embrace all the wonderful changes that have evolved in dentistry. In addition to my dedication to full time practice, I enjoy golf, skiing, biking, fitness programs, tennis, gardening and spending time with my family and friends.
