Why is a routine check-up and a dental cleaning important before the Zoom! teeth whitening?

For best results, it’s important for teeth to be free of plaque and tartar so the Zoom whitening gel can penetrate to whiten your teeth evenly.Your oral health is our first priority. The teeth whitening gel can only be harmful in presence of cavities and gum disease. By providing you with a routine checkup, we address all your concerns and make sure it is safe for you to receive the Zoom laser teeth whitening treatment.

Is Zoom!® whitening safe?

Yes. Extensive research and clinical studies indicate that teeth whitening under the supervision of a dentist is safe. In fact, many dentists consider whitening the safest cosmetic dental procedure available.

Will my insurance cover the appointment?

We accept most dental PPO insurance plans.  Such as Aetna, BlueCross Blueshield, Cigna, Delta Dental, Guardian, Metlife, United Concordia etc… Usually there is no out of pocket expense for a routine exam and cleaning.

What is Zoom!® teeth whitening?

Zoom is a bleaching process that lightens discoloration of enamel and dentin. You may have seen Zoom! Whitening on ABC’s Extreme Makeover.

How long does Professional Zoom!® whitening take?

The complete procedure takes about an hour. We begin with a preparation period, where your gums and lips are carefully protected.  Followed by three 15 minute sessions of whitening.  A fresh layer of Zoom whitening gel is reapplied after each 15 minute session.

What kind of results can I expect after Zoom whitening?

Its not uncommon to achieve results 6-10 shades lighter.  It depends on what type of stain you have, your doctor will discuss more with you during your check-up.

It’s been more than 4 months since my last cleaning. Can I still get the whitening?

For best results its very important that teeth are free of any plaque and calculus.  The teeth whitening gel cannot penetrate through plaque build-up.  This is why we feel very strongly about performing a thorough exam and cleaning before Zoom whitening.  If you wish to wait a few months before coming in for your check-up we should be able to extend the offer for you, we can even call you to remind to schedule an appointment.

Does your office only do cleanings and teeth whitening?

Our office is equipped with the latest equipment to handle your needs.  We provide comprehensive dentistry.  Including Invisalign, dental implants, veneers, Lumineers, Laser dentistry, metal free crowns, and bridge work.

How long do the Zoom whitening results last?

By following the instructions we provide you, your teeth will always be lighter than they were before.  We suggest to do touch-ups every few months either with custom made touch-up trays or crest white strips

Are there any side effects following Zoom whitening?

Sensitivity during the treatment may occur with some patients. We supervise your treatment at all times, patients are given a bell to ring in case they start having sensitivity.  As long as we catch sensitivity early there should not be much discomfort afterwards.

Crowns and Bridges

CEREC® 3-D

The CEREC® 3-D is a revolutionary technology that allows cosmetic and restoration work to be completed with the help of a computerized system for the most precise dental work possible. Digital impressions of your teeth are recorded with the CEREC® 3-D camera. The image is then used to create customized restorations that are cut and colored by the CEREC® 3-D to blend perfectly with your natural teeth. At Brenham Dental Center, porcelain veneers, crowns, bridges, inlays, and onlays, can be completed in just one appointment with use of the CEREC® 3-D.

Crowns and bridges help restore a smile that has gaps in it. A person can feel more confident smiling and not worry that they will show their missing teeth.

A crown is a covering that is placed over a damaged tooth in order to give it stability and to keep it from crumbling or breaking. Basically, a crown protects a tooth that has been effected by a crack, filling, decay, or cavity from breakage. Its job is to save a damaged tooth. Crowns give the damaged tooth the stability it needs to function like normal tooth, so the patient can chew and speak normally. Having the ability to chew is important for your digestion.  Saving a tooth is important not only for a beautiful smile, but also to keep the mouth, the bone and tissues healthy.

Many people think that crowns are only used on back teeth, but that is because the majority of cavities form on back teeth. Crowns can be used on both front and back teeth. When you get a filling and a significant part of the tooth structure is missing, we put a crown over the tooth to prevent it from breaking down further.

A bridge is used when a patient has one or more missing teeth. Basically, a bridge is a set of crowns that are connected together, and provide the same benefits as a single crown, to give stability and function. A dental bridge works the same way a bridge on a road would. There are two supports, which are the teeth next to the missing tooth. The bridge covers those supporting teeth and replaces the tooth or teeth in between. The missing teeth are replaced and supported so that the patient can chew and speak properly. The added support from the adjacent teeth gives the bridge the strength to function with the rest of the teeth and the mouth.

People wearing crowns and bridges have to take extra care when eating and cleaning their teeth. It is best to avoid chewing hard and sticky substances with teeth that have crowns or bridges on them, as they might crack or come off. You also need to clean properly underneath bridges in order to prevent bacteria from forming, which is vital in preventing cavities and decay.

Porcelain Crowns

Porcelain crowns are the recommended course of treatment when the patient’s dental needs involve cosmetic concerns as well as retaining the health and structure of the tooth. When teeth have been worn down, cracked, or damaged by tooth decay, porcelain crowns can be placed on the injured tooth to protect it and restore it to its original appearance.

Bonding

Dental bonding can be used for a variety of cosmetic improvements, such as lightening stains, closing gaps, and correcting misalignments. During the treatment, Dr. Robin Faske Baird and Dr. Brian Baird apply a layer of liquid resin to the teeth that is custom-shaped and colored to suit each patient.

ClearCorrect®

The invisible method to straighter teeth, the ClearCorrect® system is a set of clear aligners to be worn by patients to gradually straighten teeth. Schedule an appointment with Dr. Robin Faske Baird or Dr. Brian Baird to learn more about ClearCorrect®.

Implants

With their extensive training and experience, Dr. Robin Faske Baird and Dr. Brian Baird are qualified to diagnose and treat problems in your mouth that may have resulted in tooth loss, in order to promote oral health before moving forward with the dental implants procedure. Because missing teeth can cause shifting of surrounding teeth, damage to the jaw joint, bone loss, and difficulty in chewing food, it is important to consult with a dentist about treatment. Dental implants address these problems and give you an appealing smile you’ll be proud to show off.

Dr. Robin Faske Baird and Dr. Brian Baird are skilled at the restoration of dental implants, allowing our patients to receive comprehensive care. Contact Brenham Dental Center today to schedule a consultation.

Dental Implant Surgery

The dental implants procedure is generally done in stages, beginning with surgery in which the dentist places the implants. The dental implants are inserted into the jawbone and act as the new tooth root. It typically takes until about six months after surgery for the bone to grow around the dental implants and become a stable foundation for a tooth. The next stage of dental implants involves the attachment of a titanium post to the artificial root so replacement teeth can placed by the implant dentist.

           Dental Implant Restorations

Following the integration of the artificial tooth root with the bone, we can move forward with dental implant restoration. At this point, the top of dental implants are exposed and the titanium post can be inserted. The replacement teeth are then attached to the post, providing patients with a sturdy bite, comfort, and an appealing appearance. Dental implants at Brenham Dental Center have allowed patients to smile with pride. Dr. Robin Faske Baird and Dr. Brian Baird are dedicated to providing patients with the best care possible so they can achieve a smile that is healthy and beautiful.

Dental implants offer many benefits to patients. They support the structure of the face, prevent bone deterioration and damage to other teeth, offer comfort while eating, replace ill-fitting dentures, and improve the appearance.
