 FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: How can I become a patient at the Greenville Tech Dental Hygiene Clinic?
A: Contact 864-250-8126 or 864-250-8595 to make an appointment. All patients are seen by appointment only.

Q: When are appointments available?
A: Clinic hours change each semester based on the class requirements of our students.  The clinic is open when GTC classes are in session, with the exception of finals week.  The clinic is closed between semesters.

Appointments are limited to the number of students enrolled in the dental hygiene program each year.  The dental hygiene clinic cannot guarantee appointment availability from semester to semester.

Q: How much time should I set aside for my appointment?
A: Expect to spend 3 hours in the dental chair per appointment. New patients should expect to return for more than one appointment to complete your oral hygiene care. Time spent in the reception area prior to being seated in the clinic is not included in the 3 hours of patient care.

Q: Why do the appointments take so long?
A:  We are an educational institution requiring the hygiene students be evaluated at every step of the patient's oral hygiene care. Each GTC faculty member evaluates five students during a clinic session. This can result in waiting for faculty to evaluate the completed step of your treatment. Your patience is appreciated by the hygiene students and GTC faculty.

Q: What if the patient only wants partial treatment or refuses recommended treatment?
A: Procedures are based on the oral health of each patient. Our primary goal is the education of the hygiene students. Hygiene students must complete requirements enforced by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA). Patients not williing or able to accept the terms of treatment as indicated by GTC faculty may be dismissed from the dental hygiene clinic.
