CEREC Porcelain Restorations

CEREC 3D uses CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacturing) technology, incorporating a camera, computer and milling machine in one instrument. Dr. Patel uses a special camera to take an accurate picture of the damaged tooth. This optical impression is transferred and displayed on a computer screen, where Dr. Patel uses CAD technology to design the restoration. Then CAM takes over and automatically creates the restoration while the patient waits. Finally, Dr. Patel bonds the new restoration to the surface of the old tooth. Traditionally, fitting and placement of a crown requires two appointments. With the state-of-the-art CEREC 3D, the whole process takes about an hour. For you, our patient, this means fewer injections, less drilling, and less time out of your hectic schedule for dental care.

With CEREC, Dr. Patel can use strong, tooth colored ceramic materials to restore your teeth to their natural strength, beauty and function. These materials closely match the composition of natural tooth structure. This means when you eat hot food and then drink something cold, the restoration and tooth expand and contract at almost equal rates. So, your tooth does not crack and you can go on enjoying your meal. Also, the materials are chemically bonded to your tooth so Dr. Patel can save as much healthy tooth tissue as possible while providing you with a dental restoration that strengthens your tooth.

Not only are CEREC crowns more attractive than their metal counterparts, they also allow for more conservative therapy, which preserves more healthy tooth structure.
