Tooth Colored Restorations

If you’re conscious about your smile because of tooth decay, dark fillings or chips in your teeth, you may be a good candidate for tooth colored composite restorations. With no metal or mercury, our restorations are safe, strong, beautiful and long lasting. Composite restorations not only restore teeth to an attractive, healthy state but also have several other advantages over traditional silver, or amalgam, fillings.

Because composite resins are not made of metal, we can blend and mix shades to find the perfect color to match your natural teeth. This means only you and Dr. Patel will know that you have a restoration in the tooth. Another advantage is that the tooth to composite bond actually supports the remaining tooth structure, deterring breakage and insulating against temperature changes. Small to medium composites can last several years.

Even with all of the modern advancements in dental composite technology, it’s important to understand that this material does have its limitations. Composites, although an excellent choice for small to medium restorations, have a higher clinical failure rate when placed in large restorations or in teeth that have existing fractures. In such cases, Dr. Patel recommends CEREC porcelain restorations.
